In developing cleaner, more fuel-efficient vehicle technology and developing advanced alternatives in gasoline, no one is a more accomplished and leading manufacturer than Honda. Among these accomplishments, Honda is also a leader in the development of zero-emission, hydrogen-powered FCX Clarity fuel cell car, and the world's most advanced production automobile. The new Honda Insight is also a huge triumph that should be added to that list.
This new Honda Insight had its first debut on Jan. 1st 2009 and amazed everyone with all its extra features and consumer appeal. A fraction of defining the evolution of hybrid technology has been rewritten with the new 2010 Honda Insight with its Integrated Motor Assist hybrid technology and more cost-efficient production method. Here's why: this Honda provides environmentally-conscious and hybrid customers with new affordability, better performance, and a highway fuel economy rating of 40/43 miles per gallon.
The Insight also displays many intricate under the hood features including an interactive driver-focused fuel economy enhancement technology also known as the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist). The Insight is powered by a 1.3Liter SOHC aluminum alloy i-VTEC engine and CVT; as well as, a new generation of Honda's IMA hybrid system for outstanding fuel economy. The IMA hybrid system includes a 10Kilowatt, 13horsepower electric motor with an Intelligent Power Unit [IPU]. This system recaptures and stores kinetic energy from the braking and deceleration and supplies additional power for acceleration when needed. The IMA system is also capable of operating only on electric power in low/mid-speed driving areas. It also allows for cylinder deactivation when the engine is shutoff or in the gasoline engine during deceleration. As for gas mileage, the Insight has an estimated maximum driving range of 400 miles within a 10.6 gallon fuel tank.
The features under the hood are not the only impressive thing about this car. The interior is also full of features and extra accessories, including: 60/40 split and fold-down rear seatbacks, two digital instrument panels, automatic climate control, power windows, mirrors/door lock, tilting/ telescoping steering wheel, a 160watt AM/FM/CD audio system with MP3 audio playback, an audio input jack, and Speed-Sensitive Volume Control.
In addition to the outsized features of the engine AND features of interior, the Honda Insight also has extensive standard/safety features. Some of which include, dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, front-side airbags, a passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System [OPDS], side curtain airbag system, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution [EBD], driver/front passenger had restraints, and a front body designed to lessen pedestrian injuries. The Insight also has Advanced Compatibility Engineering [ACE] body structure that helps improve crash compatibility between vehicles of significant size difference. This ACE structure guarantees protection to passengers in the Insight while minimizing the potential injury to the passengers in the opposite car of the frontal collision. The safety features in the Honda Insight is to ensure the best protection for its customers.
The new Honda Insight is a revolutionary car to environmentally-conscious customers. It has amazing new technology, widespread safety features to secure our protection, and so many accessories in the interior that it's hard to keep track of! The Insight seems like the best hybrid technology car out there and there is only one way to find out. The 2010 Insight will be launched at Honda dealers throughout the United States in the beginning of April 2009 and a retail price is estimated to be below the Civic Hybrid.
